How do you ensure translations are high quality?
I am a member of the Italian Association of Translators and Interpreters (AITI) and abide by their code of conduct. I have invested heavily in my training and continue to do so in order to ensure that my professional skills are relevant, up-to-date, and continually expanding. I work with Trados Studio 2021, a recognized technology tool that assists me and aids with consistency. I always perform multiple quality checks (including proofreading and spell-checking) before returning a translation. I enjoy working closely with my clients to make sure my deliverables are fully aligned with their requirements and expectations.
When will my translation be ready?
Delivery time varies depending on the project. An average of two working days should be allowed for a text within 1000 words. The time varies not only by wordcount, but also by text topic and language combination. The agreed-upon timeline should generally allow me time to conduct some research (particularly if the text is very technical), perform quality checks, and discuss any translation questions with you. We will discuss your requirements together and agree on a delivery date. I am committed to producing work of outstanding quality. I do not accept work in unrealistic timeframes, and if I don't think I can deliver top-notch work in the required timeframe, I will say so at the outset.
How much a translation costs?
This will depend on a few things. The starting point is usually the number of words in your document, but other factors I will consider include: the subject area of the translation (if it is complex or specialized, it is likely to require more time, research, and expertise), whether complex formatting and/or document preparation is required, and the time frame in which you would like me to provide you with the finished work. There is a minimum fee of $25 USD for any job, but I will always discuss the costs with you in advance and provide you with a quote so that everything is clear before I start the job.
Do you translate from Italian into other languages?
I only translate into my native language (Italian). This is because translating into a language requires a level of mastery that, typically, only a native speaker possesses. If you need a translation in French, Spanish, Russian, or Brazilian Portuguese, also feel free to contact me as I may be able to recommend a trusted colleague.
